Agudath Leader Urges Increased Activism

The Jerusalem Post has an interesing article which quotes Rabbi Shmuel Bloom, executive vice president of Agudath Israel of America, urging the Haredi community to play a more active role in matters beyond its parochial needs. The JPost author points out:

The talk of the need to play a greater role in Jewish communal life is a sign both of the success of the American haredi community in sustaining its numbers and its failure to translate that success into greater influence in the community at large.
