Rabbi and Rebbetzin David Hertzberg to be honored by Chofetz Chaim High School
This year, the Chofetz Chaim High School is honoring Rabbi and Rebbetzin David Hertzberg as “Parents of the Year” at its Annual Journal Dinner on June 2, 2008. 5:00 pm: The Women’s League will sponsor a pre-Shavuos shiur for women given by Shaula Fraenkel entitled, “A Shavuos Collection / Leket L’Shavuos.” The shiur will take place at the home of Steven and Linda Brizel (144-38 69th Road), l’zeicher nishmas Linda’s father, R’ Yaakov Yitzchak ben Yisroel.

* New Mishnah B’rurah Program*:
Rabbi Moshe Bilitzky will lead the new Mishnah B’rurah Chaburah (following the Dirshu program schedule), which began this past Tuesday (May 6th). One amud of Mishnah B’rurah is learned each day from Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Shabbos are reserved for review and/or catching up. Shiurim, chaburahs, and supplemental materials commensurate with the needs of the participants will be arranged. 9:30 -11:30 am: The OU will be hosting the second of its two free breakfast seminars on cancer topics that Richard Gewanter has organized in conjunction with the OU. The seminar will take place at Cong. Shaaray Tefila in Lawrence. CME credits through Memorial Sloan Kettering will be available for doctors who attend.
Wednesday, May 21:
8:00 pm: The Kew Gardens Hills Rabbonim and the Vadd HaRabbonim of Queens will hold a community-wide Hesbedim in memory of the Rosh HaYeshiva of Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim, HaRav HaGaon Rav Henoch Leibowitz, zeicher tzaddik l’vracha, at Yeshiva Central Queens (corner of 70th Road and 150th Street). Among those speaking will be the Rav.
Kiruv Training Program for the Frum Community:
Project Inspire is sponsoring a three-part program to instruct members of the frum community to effectively engage in kiruv discussions and activities. This program, which will be held at the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, has been very effective. The first session is scheduled for this Wednesday, May 21, from 8:00 to 10:00 pm (but may be postponed to Wednesday May 28 because of the Shloshim for the Rosh HaYeshiva, zt"l). The cost for the entire program series is $25 in advance and $36 at the door. 8:30pm: Birkas Rivka, a non-profit organization that teaches carpentry to Israeli men and whose apprentices build quality furniture for indigent families, will hold a parlor meeting at the home of Gila and Michael Rollhaus (147-24 75th Ave).
