US Census Information

Starting on May 1, the US Census will visit households that did not mail in census forms. If a census person visits you home, you are legally required to answer the same ten questions that appeared on the census form.

Census information is used to determine how federal tax dollars are apportioned to local communities for schools, roads, the environment, cultural activities, and many programs that may benefit your family. Census information is also used to draw legislative districts, which determine who represents you in the City Council, State legislature, and US Congress.

Contrary to what you may have heard or read, participating in the census is not voluntary. Failing to provide information to the US Census can result in a fine or worse!

Of course, should someone come to your door saying he is from the US Census, please ask for identification.
